Jar Candle Burn Tips

  • Glass containers are fragile; handle with care. Avoid glass to glass contact especially when handling the lid, & do not use jars that are cracked, chipped or scratched.
  • Do not allow the flame to touch the side of the jar, it will become hot. Handle with care.
  • For best results we recommend using a candle capper when burning jar candles.
  • To minimize the wax left on the sides of the jar continue to burn until the pool of wax reaches the entire diameter of the jar (usually about 1 hour per inch of diameter). It’s normal for some wax to remain, and the amount depends on the color, fragrance and burning environment.
  • Discontinue use when 1/2” of wax is remaining, continuing to burn may cause the glass to shatter. Do not refill the jars with wax.
  • Extinguish carefully before replacing the lid.

Pillar Candle Burn Tips

  • Please note these candles are unprotected by glass. They are wax and will scratch if not handled carefully.
  • To prevent dripping, extinguish the candle when the wax pool reaches the edge. Allow the candle to cool and reharden prior to relighting.
  • Discontinue use when 1/2” of wax remains.

Taper Candle Burn Tips

  • Before lighting a taper candle, trim the wick to 1/8” and be certain that the taper is straight and secure in the taper holder.
  • Avoiding drafts, vibrations and other sources of heat will help prevent possible dripping of wax. Using a hurricane lantern will build up heat and may cause extra dripping to occur.
  • We recommend using a bobeche whenever burning taper candles to catch dripping wax.

Scented T–Lights Burn Tips

  • Do not burn in an enclosed space like a potpourri pot. For this purpose use a non-electric tarter burner (unscented T – Lites), and be sure the burner is well ventilated.
  • If wick smokes or builds up carbon, extinguish flame, trim the wick to the proper height (1/4” – 1/8”) and remove the wick trimming from the candle before relighting.

Votive Candle Burn Tips

  • Trim wick between1/4” & 1/8” before lighting.
  • Votives are made to liquefy, burn them in appropriate holders, and never burn free standing.

Tart Burn Tips

  • Place tarts in a suitable burner, and light an unscented T – Lite beneath. Tart burners, which burn with a low, controlled flame, are recommended. It should have at least a 2-1/2” top opening.
  • To change a tart fragrance, extinguish the T – Lite and let the wax harden before touching. Use a pot holder to pick up the burner and place the cooled burner in a freezer for 5-10 minutes. Frozen wax can then be easily removed from the burner. Bring tart burner to room temperature before reusing.
  • Electric tart burners may overheat the wax and are not recommended for long periods of time. Using a well-ventilated candle lit burner without a lid will give the best results.

General Candle Information

Cleaning Jar Candles:

Should the mouth of the jar become black, simply extinguish the flame and allow all wax to re-harden. Carefully wipe the rim with a dry paper towel. You can minimize this by keeping the wick trimmed between 1/8” and1/4” (see burning instructions).

Cleaning Spilled Wax:

We strongly recommend you seek professional advice from experts such as carpet cleaners or furniture refinishers. Prevent accidents by using candles with the utmost care, as instructed.

Storing Candles:

Candles are sensitive to temperature and light, so be careful when storing them for any extended period of time. Avoid color fading, melting and/or cracking by storing candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or fluorescent light.

Storage temperature should not be allowed to exceed 80F or fall below 32F. Exposure to moisture may inhibit relighting.

Follow these guidelines when traveling as well. Extreme temperatures in your car can easily melt or freeze our fine scented candles.
